Gone With The Wind

Since 1939 the world has enjoyed the iconic film "Gone With The Wind". Even back in 1939 the producers knew it was going to be a special film, but they had no idea it would become the highest grossing film of all time. Interestingly, the people of Georgia in 1939 embraced the fact that the story portrayed a cotton plantation in Georgia. The debut of the film, which took place in Atlanta, was proceeded by three days of festivities including December 15, 1939 which was declared a Georgia state holiday by the Governor of Georgia. The film has since been re released several times: 1939, 1947, 1954, 1961, 1971, 1974, and 1998. With each new release, the film has undergone minor improvements. The 1954 release was the first time a film had been converted to a wide screen format. Like millions world wide, we too are big fans of Gone With The Wind, here at Giftapolis.
