11 x 14" print (the image size is 8" x 12" plus a white border) in a hand-numbered edition of only 250 prints. ONCE AN EDITION SELLS OUT IT WILL NEVER BE REPRINTED!

The Beatles third and final tour of America happened under a cloud of controversy and backlash that came in response to a comment, which was taken out of context when it was reported in the US press, that John Lennon made in an interview in the U.K. In the interview, Lennon commented that "The Beatles were bigger than Jesus." The Beatles and their entourage awoke early on August 19, 1966 for the flight to Memphis for two shows at the Mid-South Coliseum. The flight was unusually quiet. Barry Tashian of the Remains asked John Lennon how he was doing and John replied "Ask me after Memphis." Nowhere was the response harsher than in Memphis, in the heart of America's "Bible Belt." The Ku Klux Klan promised a "few surprises" for the Beatles and the city commission tried to cancel the show amidst death threats. During the concert someone threw a cherry bomb on stage, which sounded like a gunshot, and each member of the band turned to see if anyone had been hit. Despite the media firestorm, the Memphis show went on as scheduled and the shows were extremely well received by the fans in attendance. This rare photograph from this concert, taken by US Tour Manager, Bob Bonis, captures the famous songwriting team of Lennon and McCartney harmonizing at the microphone for the fans.

This photograph was taken by Bob Bonis, who was the U.S. Tour Manager for both The Beatles and the Rolling Stones from 1964 through 1966. This is a Limited Edition fine art photograph, derived from the original negative or slide, and is printed on professional grade Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper by the master printers at Duggal Visual Solutions in New York. Thanks to his unequaled access and gifted eye for composition, Bob Bonis captured thousands of unguarded, candid and iconic photographs of the two most important groups in the history of popular music.
